Well, with my Ranger, I wanted his hornbow without success to get it. So I tried with only 4 henchies. Got to him but again I never got his bow.

Anyway, My team was the 5 Healers and 2 Warriors and me as Interrupt Ranger. The mobs you will encounter is the Jade Brotherhoods. You have about 8 mobs in total (Generally Knight, Ritualist and Mage). While the Warriors Tank in front, the ranger interrupt the mages and ritualists. While the Healers keep the Warriors alive.

I did it plenty of time and only fail 2 times..... and without my green Hornbow

... so sad.

You can do this guy with a modded W/Mo-Build that I derived from the Verminfarm-build by Loshi and the Ghial Bondancer solofarm-build by Stee Janz & Arangja (for the axe-part).

I am able to farm Royen, Ghial, Lian and Shreader with this Build…

Can't remember my attributes correcty now but I know at least:

Healing: 9 (min), 10 (recommended)
Strength: 13 (because I have this strength-based armor if you don’t have, increase axe, i have +1 +3 here)
Axe: as high as you can (i have +2 here)
Rest in Tactics (for bonnettis/HS).

Skills:

1. Flurry (safer with Eviscrerate) or Tigerstance
2. Eviscerate [e] or Triplechop [e]
3. Cyclone
4. Bonnettis
5. Executioner Strike or something like it… if you have problems surviving put in Healing Signet here
6. Dolyak
7. Vigorous Spirit (VS)
8. Live Vicareously (LV)

Weapons:
Wing's Axe or any zealous axe.
Merki's Gaze or any maxdef. shield would work I think.

1. Getting to Royen
Leave Senji's Corner to the EAST. Put up LV and switch to an alternate weaponset to reg you energy. Work you way up to the island where Royen is. You HAVE to pull here, because the patrols of Jades are circling around always. I can take on two patrols and survive… mostly all the time but it is much safer to pull.
Kill the Ritus first, then the Mesmer(s) (as they tend to interrupt you). Put up VS before you agro a patrol and you should be fine.
You gain heath by cycloning and (in case you chose the elite) triplechopping. Try to pull the patrols a far way, let the knights hit you a litte (if possible put on bonnettis) and watch the ritu bunch up with the mesmers/eles. Run up to the bunch and cyclone/chop away on the ritualist. He will then be busy healing / "weapon of warding"-ing the others and will die quickly.
When you need to /catchbreath, when dolyak ran out, or when you're low on energy --> hit bonnettis. If a knight was whacking away at you you'll gain plenty of energy.

2. Killing Royen
Be sure that everything else is dead before you agro Royens pet. Pull it down the hill an to the bridge so that Royen is far out of agro range
and can't "see" his pet anymore. This way the pet will not use interrupts or poisoning bite. Kill it and run up to Royen. He'll be REALLY easy without his pet…

P.S.: Killed him 10-15 times now… did not get the bow once… makes me wonder if he's like ghial (30 kills, no staff) and unlike Lian (5kills, 3 Lanterns)...
